Sagitta Partners with Fiber Optic Center for the Product Launch and Distribution of the New Comet™ Laser Cleaving System for Optical Connectors
Sagitta, the leading-edge fiber optic process equipment supplier for fiber optic components and connectors, announces a strategic distribution agreement with Fiber Optic Center (FOC). Effective immediately, FOC will become the distributor in Canada, US, and Mexico for Sagitta's new Comet™ laser cleaving system for optical connectors.
The Comet™ is the first commercially available product born from the agreement between Sagitta and Corning Cable Systems announced last year. This novel technology, developed by Corning Cable Systems and exclusively licensed by Sagitta, encompasses the most advanced and time-proven connector processing utilized in the industry today.
Neal Weiss, President of FOC, says, "Our cable assembly manufacturing customers, for communications and other areas like laser delivery, expect us to provide them with the newest tools and supplies they need to stay ahead of competition and to produce the best assemblies in the most cost effective manner. Sagitta's Comet™ laser cleaving system is exactly the kind of equipment that our customers are demanding: an economical alternative to hand processes, one which improves yield, and avoids dependence on the skills and consistency of an operator."
"FOC has proven themselves as a leader in fiber optic consumables and equipment distribution. With an experienced and knowledgeable staff, coupled with their extensive network base within North America, FOC is clearly the logical channel for our newest product line," according to Duane W. Dinkel, President of Sagitta Inc..
Sagitta has successfully penetrated the fiber optic component manufacturing space, launching a new line of standard-setting process and inspection equipment. The Gemini-Cx, Sagitta's flagship product, was first to market with an integrated process solution for the polishing, cleaning, and inspection of fiber optic connectors. In addition to providing stand-alone production support, the Comet™ will augment Sagitta's existing Gemini-Cx processing cell, enabling new lower cost production of simplex and multifiber optical connectors. FOC connector expert, Mario Goduco said, "Fiber Optic Center views Sagitta's Comet™ laser cleaving machine as extremely important and industry changing. This is what the mid-size to large FO cable assembly manufacturers have been waiting for. We are excited about showing and demonstrating the Comet™ and its capabilities to our customers. The Comet™ will provide the highest reliability and yield throughout the cable assembly process"
